Baldur’s Gate 3 is an exceptional game that is likely to be a contender for game of the year. Although the PC version is the superior choice, the PlayStation 5 version offers a comparable experience for those without a high-performance PC. While the PlayStation 5 version does have some technical issues, they are not game-breaking.

One major difference between the PC and PlayStation 5 versions is the controller, which lacks enough buttons for a game with so many actions and menus. However, with time and practice, using a controller becomes more natural. Combat and movement are satisfactory, but tasks like examining small items can be more challenging with a controller. The PlayStation 5 version also has some graphical and performance issues, such as texture pop-in and reduced detail on character faces. Additionally, there is a higher frequency of bugs compared to the PC version, including sound mixing problems and broken dialogue options.

These issues can be frustrating and potentially undermine the overall experience. However, whether or not you encounter these bugs may depend on luck. Despite its flaws, playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on the PlayStation 5 from the comfort of a couch is a welcomed experience. The game is still enjoyable, and the rough edges on the PlayStation 5 version should not deter players from experiencing it.
