A recent industry survey found that more than 500 studios worldwide are currently developing or maintaining live-service video games such as Destiny 2, Suicide Squad, and Fortnite. This report, conducted by Griffin Gaming Partners and Rendered VC, surveyed 537 development studios and revealed that 95% of them are working on live-service games. The report also indicates that live-service games take longer to develop and require frequent content updates to keep players engaged. Despite the potential for long-term success, many live-service games do not last, leaving players with unplayable content after just a few years.
