Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, is reportedly pursuing his pilot’s license, joining the ranks of other tech giants like Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla. This development has sparked speculation about a potential aerial showdown between Zuckerberg and Musk. Despite his role as a tech company head, Zuckerberg is known for his diverse range of hobbies and interests, setting an example for others to step out of their comfort zones and try new things.

According to a report from The Information, Zuckerberg has been undergoing pilot training and obtained his student pilot certificate earlier this year. The Federal Aviation Administration requires this certificate before individuals can fly solo, although it is not mandatory for flying lessons. To obtain the certificate, applicants must be at least 16 years old, be able to read, speak, and understand English, and obtain a medical certificate from Aviation Medical Examiners. After obtaining the certificate, prospective pilots must undergo ground and in-flight training with a certified flight instructor. The Observer estimates that the average cost of obtaining a pilot’s license ranges from $10,000 to $20,000, a small sum compared to Zuckerberg’s net worth of $113 billion.

Zuckerberg is not the only tech executive with a penchant for flying. Sam Altman obtained his pilot’s license in 2010, while the co-founders of Stripe, Patrick, and John Collision, are also licensed pilots. Snapchat creator Evan Spiegel has the necessary approvals to fly a helicopter. Even Musk, who owns several planes, has become too busy to fly them himself.

In addition to his interest in aviation, Zuckerberg has pursued various other hobbies. He has taken up surfing, learned Mandarin, read more books, and become a vegetarian. Zuckerberg has also reportedly engaged in mixed martial arts training, which has led some to speculate about a potential confrontation between him and Musk. The online drama started in June when Musk responded to a tweet about Meta’s new social media platform, suggesting that the earth would be under Zuckerberg’s control. Musk teased about a potential cage match with Zuckerberg, and further exchanges on social media fueled speculation about a showdown between the two billionaires.

While it remains to be seen whether a face-off between Zuckerberg and Musk will materialize, both seem to be preparing for it. Zuckerberg’s recent training in various physical activities and Musk’s indication of preparing for a fight through weightlifting have contributed to the rumors surrounding the potential clash.

Mark Zuckerberg is pursuing his pilot’s license, adding to his already diverse range of hobbies and interests. His dedication to self-improvement serves as an inspiration for others to step out of their comfort zones and try new things. While rumors of a potential battle between Zuckerberg and Musk persist, only time will tell if the two tech giants will take their dispute to the skies.
