OpenAI Enhances ChatGPT with Customized Instructions and Increased Message Limit

In a move to cater to the needs of its users, OpenAI has launched two new features for its ChatGPT application. These upgrades, which were rolled out on June 20 and 21, are aimed at maximizing the benefits of ChatGPT Plus subscriptions.

Previously, many users found the paid version of ChatGPT to be less valuable compared to the free version. However, with these new features, that perception could change as users are now able to utilize the app for a wider range of purposes. The upgrades may seem simple, but they significantly enhance the performance of the AI tool.

One of the new features is customized instructions for ChatGPT users. This upgrade, launched on June 21, eliminates the need for repetitive input of the same instructions to the chatbot. Users can now save their preferences to the AI bot. However, it’s important to note that this feature is currently only available for ChatGPT Plus subscribers in the European Union and the United Kingdom, as it is still in its beta stage.

To access the customized instructions feature, ChatGPT Plus members can follow these steps: log in to their ChatGPT account, navigate to Settings, select Beta features, and choose the “Opt into Custom instructions” option. This allows users to give specific instructions to the chatbot, such as requests to keep the response formal or to write an answer within a certain word limit. OpenAI suggests that teachers can even inform ChatGPT about the subject they are teaching, enabling the chatbot to tailor its responses accordingly.

Another upgrade is the increased message limit for GPT-4. Previously, users were restricted to 25 messages every three hours. However, starting from June 20, the message limit has been extended to 50. While this may seem like a minor improvement, it offers significant benefits to both users and developers. The higher limit allows for longer and more in-depth conversations with ChatGPT, enabling users to explore various topics and receive more comprehensive responses.

According to TechCrunch, the increased message limit also provides developers with more opportunities to experiment with Code Interpreter and over 700 third-party ChatGPT plugins. Notably, the new CapCut AI video editor, which operates on GPT-4, is among these plugins. However, the Browse with Bing plugin is currently excluded from this feature to prevent access to paywalled content.

These upgrades hold great potential for various fields. Businesses, for example, can leverage the increased message limit to handle a larger volume of customer queries and analyze business intelligence more efficiently. GPT-4 is widely used in content creation, market research, customer service, and other operations, making the higher message limit a valuable asset.

OpenAI’s launch of ChatGPT customized instructions and the increased message limit for GPT-4 opens up exciting possibilities for users and developers alike. By personalizing AI interactions and expanding communication capabilities, these upgrades are set to enhance the ChatGPT experience.
