The recent Cashless Expo 2023, hosted by GoDigitalPilipinas, was a significant collaboration between the public and private sectors. The event, held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City from November 17 to 19, showcased the benefits of digital transactions, with a focus on driving digital transformation, particularly among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and farmers, in e-commerce, digital payment, banking, and fintech.

In partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Department of Agriculture (DA), and the BangkoSentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the expo highlighted the government’s digital transformation roadmap, with the e-commerce ecosystem identified as a key sector poised to drive digital transactions forward. Carlos Barrera, CEO of Lazada, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting the government initiative and encouraging stakeholders to take advantage of cashless transactions.

DTI Assistant Secretary and Digital Philippines and ECommerce Lead, Jean Pacheco, expressed satisfaction with the event’s outcome, stating that the expo empowered every Filipino, from MSMEs to farmers, to experience the digital revolution and showcasing the vibrant diversity of local businesses. Pacheco also highlighted the partnership with GoDigitalPilipinas and the overwhelming support from the private sector in advancing and promoting the digitization of merchant payments and financial inclusion in the Philippines.

Overall, the success of the initiative speaks to the promising future of digital payments in the Philippines, promoting economic growth, inclusivity, and innovation. The collaboration between the public and private sectors is driving the nation towards a more connected and digitally empowered future.
