Blizzard announced during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live presentation that the next update for Diablo IV, called Season of Blood, will begin on October 17, just in time for Halloween. The update will introduce five new and returning endgame bosses, along with changes to renown rewards, gem and stash storage, and resistance and status effects. While specific details about these updates have not been revealed yet, Blizzard released a new trailer showcasing what players can expect in October.

In Season of Blood, players will team up with vampire hunter Erys to confront a new threat in the lands of Sanctuary. Erys, voiced by Gemma Chan, will accompany players as a “badass warrior companion” with powerful vampiric abilities. The update will culminate in a showdown with a “big bad vampire lord.” This marks Chan’s first performance in a video game.

However, the current update, Season of the Malignant, has faced some controversy due to a change in player power levels. Blizzard has reassured the community that they will not make classes weaker, as it leads to an unsatisfying experience. Players are hopeful that Season of Blood will bring improvements and a more enjoyable gameplay experience.

In the meantime, players can continue to enjoy Season of the Malignant until Season of Blood launches on October 17.
