Ann Arbor-Based Cybersecurity Firm Blackwell Security Secures $13M in Funding

A healthcare cybersecurity solutions provider based in Ann Arbor, MI, Blackwell Security, has successfully raised $13M in funding. The round of funding was led by General Catalyst and Rally Ventures.

In addition to the funding announcement, Blackwell has appointed Geyer Jones as their first Chief Executive Officer. The company plans to use the funds to expand their offerings, which include healthcare threat intelligence and automated response capabilities.

Founded in 2023 by Jaclyn Miller, President and COO, and Jason Lee, CIO, Blackwell Security is a managed extended detection and response provider focusing on the healthcare sector. With the addition of CEO Geyer Jones, the company aligns its security efforts with essential frameworks such as the health industry cybersecurity practices (HICP) and the 405(d) program to serve community-based organizations, health assurance companies, and health plans.

Blackwell actively collaborates with design partners, including health systems and General Catalyst’s Health Assurance Network, to enhance healthcare threat detection and response processes. By further developing their MHXDR offering, the company aims to improve access to high-quality cybersecurity for healthcare organizations and enhance security posture across the healthcare industry.
