A new initiative called the Asean Explorer Pass has been launched to promote travel to lesser-known tourist destinations within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean). The Asean Business Advisory Council (BAC) partnered with budget airlines to encourage travelers to explore hidden gems in the region.

The Asean-BAC aims to highlight intra-regional tourism as a driver of growth for a more prosperous Asean. With a vision of a borderless Asean, the council, led by Nazir Rasak of Malaysia, believes in breaking down barriers and promoting diversity as the region’s strength.

AirAsia MOVE, a digital venture by Capital A Berhad, collaborated with Asean-BAC to launch the Asean Explorer Pass. This pass offers travelers a flexible and cost-effective way to explore multiple destinations within the Asean region. It aims to encourage longer stays, multiple visits, and increased travel frequency.

For an annual subscription fee of P14,888, travelers can book up to three roundtrip flights per month within Asean with zero-base fare flights on international AirAsia flights. This pass allows travelers to explore destinations where AirAsia flies, promoting regional tourism.

Tony Fernandes, CEO of Capital A and MOVE Digital, expressed his goal of making the Asean region more accessible to travelers. The Asean Explorer Pass is designed to provide travelers with the opportunity to discover hidden gems beyond popular destinations like Bangkok, Bali, and Singapore.

The pass, available through AirAsia MOVE, also offers an exclusive promo code for up to a 50% discount on over 900,000 hotels. However, additional charges such as optional add-ons, airport fees, and taxes may apply.

The initiative has received positive feedback, with travelers expressing interest in exploring off-the-beaten-path destinations. The Asean Explorer Pass aims to revolutionize regional tourism and encourage travelers to experience the diversity of the Asean countries.
