The Worldcoin Foundation Grants $70,000 to Wormhole for WorldID Verification on Solana Blockchain

The Worldcoin Foundation has announced a $70,000 grant to Wormhole to support WorldID verification on the Solana blockchain. This effort aims to provide the Solana ecosystem with a crucial tool for proving humanness.

The grant, which awards 25,000 WLD to Wormhole, will enable Solana-based protocols to verify user IDs that have been authenticated on the Ethereum blockchain. Wormhole will achieve this by using Wormhole Queries in an Ethereum-Solana state bridge service to propagate World ID state roots between the two chains. A smart contract on Solana will store World ID state roots and validate inclusion proofs.

Benefits of this integration include enabling new use cases, demonstrating the versatility of Wormhole’s multichain infrastructure, and simplifying verification for developers. Additionally, the integration aims to enhance security, decentralization, and cross-chain interoperability while promoting financial inclusion by providing universal access to the digital economy.

In addition to the grant to Wormhole, the Worldcoin Foundation has announced a total of 16 grants worth 289,000 WLD. Other grantees include Axiom, Proof of Passport, Farcaster Humaniser, Alphaday, and others. These recipient projects are tasked with strengthening the Worldcoin ecosystem through various research, development, educational, and outreach efforts.
