Fast-food giant Jollibee Foods Corp. is currently investigating a possible data breach that has affected its delivery service system. This incident adds to the increasing number of companies that are being targeted by hackers.
According to a statement released by Jollibee on Saturday morning, the company is taking the cybersecurity incident seriously and has launched an investigation to determine the extent of the breach. In response to the breach, Jollibee has implemented response protocols and enhanced security measures to protect the data of its customers from future threats.
While the e-commerce platforms of Jollibee remain unaffected and operational, the company is addressing the alleged breach that was reported by cybersecurity advocacy group Deep Web Konek. The group claimed that personal data of 32 million customers, including sensitive information such as names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses, had been exposed.
Deep Web Konek also mentioned that the breach included records of food delivery orders, sales transactions, and service details. Additionally, sensitive information related to other restaurants owned by Jollibee, such as Chowking and Mang Inasal, was also reportedly compromised.
Despite not confirming the posts made by Deep Web Konek, Jollibee assured that it is working closely with authorities and experts to address the situation. The company reiterated its commitment to safeguarding customer data and strengthening its defenses against future threats.
Jollibee, which operates thousands of stores worldwide, has joined the list of firms that have recently fallen victim to cyberattacks. This includes insurance and healthcare plan provider Maxicare Healthcare Corp., as well as automotive giant Toyota Motor Corp. and developer Robinsons Land Corp.
As investigations into the data breach continue, customers are advised to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities related to their personal information.
