The all-new Nissan Almera redefines the subcompact sedan category with its impressive design, exceptional performance, and innovative technological features. Recently, I had the chance to test drive the Almera launched by Nissan Philippines. Jill Christine S. Pena, the Brand Marketing Senior Manager of Nissan Philippines, emphasizes that the Almera has been re-engineered to prioritize excitement, convenience, and safety.

One of the standout features of the new Almera is its unique and eye-catching design. The sporty, dynamic, and elegant appeal is evident in its strong and aggressive exterior, highlighted by the new V-Motion grille and an exclusive two-tone color option for the VL variant. The 16″ alloy wheel design not only enhances aesthetics but also improves performance.

Inside, the Almera impresses with its revamped interior. The dashboard design is more ergonomic and intuitive, featuring an 8″ Advanced Touchscreen Display Audio system that provides easy access to entertainment, navigation, and communication. Compared to previous models, the new Almera offers more legroom, headroom, and storage space. The inclusion of cup holders, USB ports, and power outlets adds convenience, while the comfortable and supportive seating wrapped in premium materials ensures a pleasant ride.

Under the hood, the new Almera is equipped with a powerful 1.0-liter turbo engine, delivering 100 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 152 Nm of torque at 2,400-4,000 rpm. The Almera also boasts advanced Nissan Intelligent Mobility features such as Lane Departure Warning, High Beam assist, and an Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection.

As a tech editor, I was particularly impressed with the tech integration of the new Almera. The NissanConnect Services stand out as an innovative feature, allowing users to sync their mobile phones with the car and manage its features remotely. This service brings a new level of safety, security, and convenience to the subcompact sedan segment, offering features like Automatic Collision Notification, SOS Emergency Call Button, and real-time vehicle alerts.

Additional features of the NissanConnect Services include Zone Alert, Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, and Theft Alert. Zone Alert allows users to set a radius for their vehicle’s travel and receive alerts when the vehicle enters or exits a zone. Speed Alert enables monitoring and setting of speed limits. Curfew Alert allows users to set specific times when the vehicle should remain off and receive alerts if the vehicle is driven during those times. Theft Alert alerts the user if forced entry or towing is detected, providing the location of the car.

The NissanConnect also includes features like My Car Finder, Remote Engine Start/Stop, Remote Lock-Unlock, Remote Horn, and Lights. The remote horn and lights feature is particularly useful in crowded parking lots or dark areas, allowing users to remotely activate the vehicle’s horn and lights using their phone.

The Almera also offers other convenient features such as Cruise Control for long drives, Wireless Charging for compatible smartphones, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System to keep an eye on tire pressure.

In terms of safety, the Almera is equipped with a comprehensive SRS Airbag System, including dual front airbags, side airbags, and curtain airbags for maximum protection in case of collisions or rollovers.

The pricing for the new Nissan Almera starts at ₱839,000 for the base model EL Turbo MT variant, ₱1,059,000 for the VE Turbo CVT variant, and ₱1,149,000 for the VL Turbo CVT variant. The VL and VE variants come with a 3-year subscription to NissanConnect Services worth ₱30,000 and a 5-year warranty. The charging pad and 5-year warranty are exclusive to VL and VE variants.
