Shell LiveWIRE, an organization dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, is actively supporting the growth of the startup scene in the Philippines. They aim to strengthen the country’s economy and create meaningful employment opportunities. Recently, they held the Final Pitch Day event in Makati City, where tech startups and community enterprises showcased their ideas.

Farmvocacy, a Mindoro Island-based social climate fintech startup, won a funding grant worth 1 million pesos for their innovative approach to climate-smart rice farming. Shell LiveWIRE, which has been operating since 2020, has already assisted 42 innovators and business owners through their Acceleration Program, with 12 of them entering Shell Pilipinas Corporation’s supply chain. This initiative has resulted in the creation of over 500 local jobs.

The event was attended by notable individuals, including Rafelita Aldaba, Undersecretary for the Competitiveness and Innovation Group at the Department of Trade and Industry, who praised the dedication to sustainability and encouraged everyone to support innovation. Two other finalists, LITHOS Manufacturing OPC and Lycan Motorcycles, were also recognized for their contributions to the local economy. Additionally, six community enterprises were honored for their efforts in promoting entrepreneurship and meaningful employment.

Shell LiveWIRE emphasized the importance of collaboration between innovators and enterprises to achieve national success. The event’s judging panel included representatives from various organizations, such as the Department of Science and Technology and 500 Startups.
