A festive celebration for our Muslim friends as they observe Eid ul Adha or Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of the Sacrifice. This Muslim festival marks the end of the pilgrimage to Mecca and commemorates Abraham’s sacrifice of his son.

Eid al-Adha is the second main Islamic holiday after Eid al-Fitr, which signals the end of the month-long fasting of Ramadan. Known as the “Salty Eid,” Eid al-Adha features savory dishes like mutton, in contrast to the sweet dishes served during Eid al-Fitr.

Traditionally, Eid al-Adha involves the sacrifice of an animal, usually a sheep, in remembrance of Abraham’s obedience to Allah. Popular mutton dishes for the celebration include Mutton Biryani, Mutton Korma, Mutton Chops, and Mutton Curry.

Other favorite dishes for Eid al-Adha include Haleem, a stew made with lentils, meat, wheat, and spices; Sheer Khurma, a vermicelli pudding dessert; and Shahi Tukda, a dessert made with deep-fried bread slices soaked in saffron-infused milk.

While these dishes may not be commonly found in Manila restaurants, they offer a flavorful and festive way to celebrate Eid al-Adha. To all Muslim friends, Assalamu alaikum, and may peace and blessings be with you all!
