An analyst from Bloomberg has predicted that US spot Ethereum Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) could be launched in June. Eric Balchunas shared his insights on Twitter, suggesting that while a mid-June launch may be unlikely, there is a legitimate possibility of seeing these ETFs by the end of June.

Balchunas also mentioned that the latest possible launch date for these products would be July 4. He based his expectations on the timing of issuers’ S-1 statements, noting significant updates in filings from BlackRock and Grayscale.

The analyst pointed out that the latest amendments in BlackRock’s and Grayscale’s filings are among the final steps needed before the ETFs can start trading. Balchunas highlighted the political aspects surrounding the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) approach to these funds, suggesting that the regulator may not have a reason to rush their approval.

Other industry experts, including Ark Invest CEO Cathie Wood and Coinbase research analyst David Han, have also suggested that the SEC’s approval of these ETFs may be politically motivated.

According to reports, the SEC has requested additional S-1 filings from some applicants, with a deadline of May 31. The SEC will review these filings and issue comments, with applicants expected to make further amendments as necessary.

At present, all Ethereum ETF issuers have submitted their registration statements. However, only VanEck, in addition to BlackRock and Grayscale, has made amendments following the SEC’s initial approval for ETF rule changes on May 23.

Analysts expect the approval process for these ETFs to take several weeks or even months. Balchunas’ colleague at Bloomberg, James Seyffart, believes that the SEC will need time to review and approve the S-1 statements.
