A potential launch date for spot Ethereum ETFs has been predicted by Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart and his colleagues. They believe these ETFs could be launched around July 15 as the application process settles.

Seyffart shared his prediction on social media on July 3 but mentioned that he has “low confidence in those launch date predictions at this point.” The forecast is linked to Bitwise’s amendment to its spot Ethereum ETF application on July 3, where the only significant change was adding a six-month fee waiver for the first $500 million in assets.

According to Seyffart, these changes were minimal, and he does not see any reason why the ETFs wouldn’t be ready to go within a couple of weeks. However, he clarified that there is no official timeline for approvals, and the SEC’s Division of Corporate Finance is taking its time approving each fund.

Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas stated that the latest comments on the matter involved “literally nothing” and suggested that the funds should have already started trading. He added that the light comments allowed Bitwise to amend its application sooner than the expected deadline of July 8.

Additionally, Balchunas believes that all indications point to a launch still being on schedule for this month. Meanwhile, ETF Store president Nate Geraci mentioned that applicants might submit one more round of amendments to add fees before the funds can start trading.

The SEC issued exchange approvals for spot Ethereum ETFs in May, allowing exchanges to list and trade the pending ETFs. However, the agency must also approve S-1 registration statements for asset managers to issue the funds, with no set deadline for doing so.

Balchunas reassured that the final approvals are guaranteed, noting that the SEC approved the necessary rule changes and that the current process involves logistics and issuers waiting on the agency’s timeline. Other applicants, such as Galaxy Digital, expect the Ethereum ETFs to launch in a matter of weeks.

The anticipation for the launch of spot Ethereum ETFs continues to build as stakeholders await further developments in the application process.
